Study on Mechanism of Ascorbic Acid on the Promotion of Faba Bean Seeds Germination under Salt Stress
Abstract: In order to explore the mechanism of ascorbic acid (AsA) in the regulation of plant responsing to salt stress, the effects of 0, 0.5,1.0, 1.5, 2.0 mmol/L AsA on germina-
tion and antioxidant capacity of broad beans were studied. The results showed that: exog- enous 0.5 mmol/L AsA application on the seed significantly decreased the malondialdeh -yde content, while the germination vigor and rate, the activities of peroxidase, superoxide dismutase and amylase were increased. The results indicated that suitable concentration of AsA could enhance antioxidant capacity to promote seed germination and improve the POD, SOD and amylase activity of seeds to maintain the stability of plant cell membrane, reduce the degree of injury membrane lipid peroxidation, thus alleviating the injury caused by salt stress on seed germination and promoting seed germination.
