Abstract Since 1990, the Internet has gone through a evolving way constantly. The traditional Web applications are generally using the development model which adopts HTML to show the contents and server to transfer data. Considering the fact that the HTML is only suitable for graphic content and subject to many restrictions on form, it can’t meet the contents of users and the needs of large applications. The technique of RIA has energed the application development of web. The technique of RIA has breaked the traditional web development model of using HTML by combining the strong interaction of desktop applications and the flexibility of traditional Web applications. It has the characteristics as follows: stability, rich interactivity, ease of management and maintenance and so on, which will give users a new experience by using the techique of Flex event mechanism and methods of data binding.
Flex3.0 has been used as the development platform to achieve the technique of RIA in the project, been based on the methods of software engineering and been taken advantage of its powerful development environment and excellent communication capabilities to better achieve the system performance requirements and the expected results.
In the paper, a Flex technique-based design and development of equipment management system have been used as a background, aiming at the study of RIA application in technique of Flex and completing the design and development of the actual project. The process of the equipment management system has been descripted in the paper from the project’s functional requirements, structural planning, database design and system implementation in details. Combining with the technique of RIA and web application system equipments, the development of five function modules such as user login, user management, device management, location management and data bulk import have been completed. As a result of that, an intuitive user interface, multiple access methods, convenient modification method and a variety of output to meet the needs of users have been showed by the management system.
