What must be Held in Mind and Done in Job Hunting 第8页3.2.3 Chinese is so important that you can’t ignore.
It is widely acknowledged that people who are good at English are able to find a decent job. However, recently we have discovered in job fairs that many college graduates who had passed CET4, CET6 and even TEM8 were rejected by employers because of being poor at Chinese. In a job fair holding in Southwest University of Political Science and Law, a real estate company handed out 300 pieces of college graduates recruitment forms, in which there were five questions needed to be answered within limited number of words. One of the questions is that please give an example that you persuaded someone successfully or you convinced your team members to accept your suggestions with 80 words. Consequently, more than half of the students were not able to answer this question within the required number of words and some used many ambiguous words and even some gave an irrelevant answer. Mr. Feng, in charge of the recruitment in that real estate company said, “What we need at this moment is talents who are capable of handling both English and Chinese. If an employee can not explain in his mother tongue clearly and fluently, how can we expect that he can communicate with clients smoothly in English?”
The phenomenon of focusing on foreign languages while looking down on mother is now very common in schools. Nevertheless, as a college graduate who is willing to work in a foreign enterprise, he should put emphasis on his ability in expressing in Chinese as well as English.
3.2.4 Whether you can succeed or not is based on some details.
As an old saying in China goes, if one doesn't start by sweeping his room, how can he sweep to victory globally? Since ancient China, most people with great achievements attach importance to details. Take doing exercises for an example, when the Chinese youth come for an interview, their states of mind are always not very desirable for they are lack of sports. In contrast, people who usually keep doing sports look every smart and vigorous, which prove that they are capable of handling heavy workload and pressure while working. Being an excellent quality, doing sports is what foreign enterprise lay stress on but ignored by most job hunters.
3.2.5 Being mentally healthy contributes to finding a good job.
With the rapid increase in competition in the job market, on one hand, college graduates should acquaint themselves with current employment situation, and on the other hand, they should learn to how to adjust to suitable attitude towards job hunting. Firstly, establish correct values. College graduates should know how to evaluate themselves and locate themselves in an appropriate place. Secondly, learn how to adjust emotions in front of pressure. Getting your sorrow and disappointment after experiencing failure in an interview helps you relax and be restores to reason. Thirdly, sometimes you can seek help from your teachers, classmates or friends when you are trapped in a tight corner, which gives you warmness and happiness.
