Robert Frost is one of the most prestigious poets in American literary world in the 20th century, whose poetic language is simple but symbolizes profoundly. The author selects three poems of his—Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, The Road Not Taken, Mending Wall to explore the implied symbolic meaning and profound connotations behind the 牙膏调查问卷表 by analyzing the symbolism in the three poems. This paper,by using contrastive method and lots of examples, aims to analyze the symbolism in the poetry, and probes into the deep philosophy of life. Hopefully this paper will be beneficial for readers to grasp and appreciate Robert Frost’s poetry better.

The Analysis of Symbolism in Robert Frost’s Poetry
I. Introduction
The symbolism is an art of adopting symbols especially by investing things with a symbolic meaning or by expressing the invisible or intangible by means of visible or sensuous representations. The Symbolism Movement, as a literature movement originated during the 1850s in France, created a public sensation in the following decades and until 1900 its momentum began to diminish. During this period it exerted a profound influence on twentieth-century literature, and bridged the transition from realism to modernism.
