1、选题的意义及研究状况：
Poetry is the essence of language. Image constitutes the soul of poetry. Image reproduction serves as the key to poetry translation. Chinese poetry not only becomes the exotic flower in the garden of Chinese literature for its rich and meaningful images but also has a profound influence on the creation and appreciation of other nations’poetry. Both Japanese Haiku and western Imagism draw the inspiration and get enlightenments from the image creation of Chinese poetry. All of them lay a good foundation of the image reproduction in Chinese poetry translation. Therefore, Chinese poetry translation is not only quite necessary but also feasible.
2、主要内容、研究方法和思路：
Image, also called emotional symbol, is the complex of poet's subjective emotion and objective object. The artistic image reflects a poet's emotion, imagination, thoughts, aesthetic taste and retreatment feeling. This thesis conducts research on the translation of Chinese poems, with focus on the recreation of imagery in the translation process.
3、准备情况：
At the preparation stage, relevant works and materials will be searched on Internet database and in the school library. The author of this thesis will study all the materials carefully and summarize the useful information.
