Firstly, Chinese have affective thinking modes, while western people intend to be rational. Natural environment and location play vital role in tracing different thinking patterns. English antecedents lived on the island, thus the geographical feature nourishes adventurous and expansive people. They are born to learn and to rule the world. On the contrary, ancient Chinese relied on earth deeply for China was a farming society. Thirdly, in comparison to gyre thinking mode of western people, Chinese people have linear thinking. What’s more, Chinese people emphasized on figurative thinking but western people pay more attention to abstract thinking mode. Last but not least, Chinese people belong to obscure thinking while western people are classified as accurate thinking mode.
Apart from these books, The translator’s guide to Chinglish written by Joan Pinkham makes great contribution to the manifestation of Chinglish. The author of the book analyzes Chinglinsh from two aspects: unnecessary word and sentence structure. Then he illustrates various nonstandard English expressions with a large number of examples and comparison from these two perspectives.
