Then this paper bringst out the humanistic education that is the soil of American spirit. This kind of education teaches people to be kind, tolarent and rational so on. 1 Introduction
Flipped is an American film directed by Rob Reiner and starred by Callan McAuliffe and Madeline Carroll. It describes the puppy love between two teenagers in their growth. Their different positions and views are used in the narration of the story. Through fun at the beginning and sweet in the end, American teenagers’ self-exploration, self-discovery and self-cognition are presented. This film is a big success because of its warm plots and ceremony. What’s more, it hooks up many audiences’ beautiful memories of their youth. Varity evaluates it that it’s a great family movie, detailing about love and life course, which is much better than some movies which put some of the roles of genius in film center.
Flipped tells a story that begins in elementary school until high school, lasting for 6 years. Juli Baker is a 14-year-old girl who fell in love with Bryce Loski at first sight when she was a grade 2 student. She wished to get his first kiss. From then on, she managed to go close to him. She invited Bryce to climb to the top of the sycamore tree to enjoy the beautiful scenery of their town. And she gave Bryce the eggs that were laid by the hens she raised herself. But all these were in vain because Bryce had no feeing for her at that time. He thought Juli was very strange because who would put raising chicken and sitting on the tree as fun? With time passing, Juli began to focus more attention on her family rather than Bryce due to her father’s influence. She started to suspect that Bryce’s beautiful blue eyes were perhaps as empty as himsef. After all, how could anyone not take chicken and trees seriously? She decided to leave far from him. But at the time Juli left him, Bryce finally recognized Juli’s uniqueness and fell to her attraction, he flipped.
It’s a love story, yes, and it is also a story depicting the growth of a girl. Juli did many things, all of which show her extraordinary ability of independence. What’s more, her bravery, dignity and hard work reflect the inherent spirit of the Americans and the American society. Although this story took place in the 1960s in America, the humanistic care and American values reflected in children education can still shed some light on our today world. There are two tutors in this film, Bryce’s grandfather and Juli’s father. They lead the two teenagers to the right road when they are in confusion, not knowing how and where to go. Bryce’s grandfather tells him in life who he is and what kind of person he should be.
