He inherited the pioneers of the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal democratic spirit, at the same time he widely drew on and assimilated the Chinese classical opera and European modern drama performance method, which improved the Chinese drama art a new level.
1.2 The Backgrounds of the Two Works
The meaning of success was to make ourselves feel satisfied. Cao Yu didn’t meet his honor which he had obtained. He created the drama which was quite different with the past in writing style. Cao Yu wrote the drama Weald in early 1940s, when China was fighting with Japan. In that period of time, people of China were living in an abyss of suffering. And in Weald , the hero Qiu Hu may show people’s true feeling to the society. Cao Yu said in his later life, “If we fight with them together, we all can live, otherwise die.” [2]
Wuthering Heights is the only novel that Emily Bronte had written. The literary achievement of Wuthering Heights lies in its realistic portrayal of a specific place and time and in its examination of universal patterns of human behavior. It was published in December 1847. Emily Bronte was an original writer. She did read some love poetry and novels of that time but her novel had nothing to do with all of these. Maybe his brother Branwell’ s love affair brought her a bit of real presentation when she was writing the novel. But the fundamental source of the novel still could not be traced. It was spewing out of Emily’s simple, volcanic and wonderful imagination. Emily’s writing is most effective when depicting the passionate and violent characters of Heathcliff and Catherine, for she has the uncanny ability to translate feelings into words. It is a record in the history of world literature that has never been approached and will never be approached again. [3] 《原野》和《呼啸山庄》中的情爱与复仇对比分析(2):http://www.751com.cn/yingyu/lunwen_38829.html
