2.1.2 Definition of mind map
A mind map is used to visually organize information. It has an organized structure that radiates from the center using lines, symbols, words and images (Buzan, 1993). Mind maps encourage people to do relational thinking and “think outside of the box”.They are helpful in carrying out activities such as brainstorming. Tony Buzan is the person who invented and popularized mind maps. According to Buzan, there are four essential characteristics in a mind map:the focus on the central image that represents the subject being mapped; themes that radiate from the central image like branches; these branches have a key image or key word written above the connecting lines; these branches have are connected by lines (Buzan, 1993).
