Research on the Chinese Face Perspective  Compared with the West Abstract Politeness is one of the symbols of human civilization. It is a common phenomenon and a kind of communication principle. Face culture is a very important part in Chinese culture and influences many aspects of people’s life. It is sure that China and western countries that have different cultural backgrounds have different understanding on politeness. As one of the politeness principles, face perspective has its own patterns of manifestation in China and western countries. This paper introduces Chinese face culture and compares it with western countries by quoting some scholars’ opinions and analyzes the cultural differences and the reasons behind them. This paper also discusses some advice about cross-cultural communication.47702

中国人的面子文化分析——与西方对比

摘  要礼貌是人类文明的标志，它既是一种普遍现象，又是一种交际原则。面子文化作为礼貌原则之一，在中国文化中有着十分重要的地位。面子文化作为中国人生活中不可或缺的组成部分，影响着生活的方方面面。而中国与西方拥有截然不同的文化，其文化的不同必然导致人们对礼貌有着不同的认识与理解。面子观在东西方之间自然有着不同的表现形式。本文通过引用一些西方学者，如高夫曼，布朗等人，以及中国学者对于面子观的看法，并在随后讨论了不同面子观背后反映出的不同文化，并分析了造成这些差别的原因，例如历史，文化，思维模式等,为中西之间的跨文化交流提出一些意见。
