Richards (1971) classified errors into three kinds, which are interlingual errors, intralingual errors and developmental errors. The first kind of errors can be identified as transfer errors which result form learners’ first language features such as grammatical, lexical or pragmatic errors. The second kind of errors refer to the overgeneralisations in the target language, resulting from ignorance of rule restrictions and incomplete applications of rules. And the last kind of errors refer to the stage that learners attempt to build up target language system based on their limited knowledge.
With the issue of errors in language learning is important, research in this area is still inconclusive. The definition and classification of errors could still be looked at from various points of view. 初中英语写作的错误与分析问题和策略(4):http://www.751com.cn/yingyu/lunwen_55346.html
