Abstract With the intensification of globalization, researches on cross-cultural communication become unceasingly more in-depth and the value of cultural empathy in cross-cultural communication has gradually been discovered. Cultural empathy, to a large extent, has an influence on the effect of cross-cultural communication. Therefore, fully understanding the formation and the value of cultural empathy plays a vital role in cross-cultural communication.54990

The purpose of this paper is to explore ways to cultivate cultural empathy in cross-cultural communication. First of all, this paper elaborates the notion of empathy and cultural empathy and points out the research results that have been achieved in this field. Then the paper analyses the formation, manifestation and significance of cultural empathy in cross-cultural communication. Furthermore, the paper also lists several obstacles to the cultivation of cultural empathy in cross-cultural communication. Finally, this paper gives methods that can overcome these obstacles and effectively cultivate cultural empathy.

摘要随着全球化的不断推进，跨文化交际的研究也不断深入，文化移情能力在跨文化交际中的价值也逐渐被发现。文化移情很大程度上影响到了跨文化交际的效果。因此充分了解文化移情的形成过程和作用对顺利进行跨文化交际起着至关重要的作用。

本课题旨在探讨跨文化交际中的文化移情能力的培养。首先，本课题对移情以及文化移情的概念做出阐述，并指出该领域已经取得的研究成果。其次，分析跨文化交际中文化移情的形成、表现和作用。再次，列举了跨文化交际中培养文化移情的障碍。最后，本课题给出跨越这些障碍从而能有效培养文化移情的方法。

1. Introduction

Before elaborating the notion of cultural empathy, we must make clear what empathy is. The notion of empathy was firstly created by a Germany scholar named Robert Visher, the field of which has been expanded from aesthetics to a variety of fields such as cognitive psychology, linguistics and cross-cultural communication. From a psychological point of view, empathy refers to a kind of self-generated close emotional experience with others on the basis of emotional perception, which is equivalent to the emotional resonance. Japanese linguist Kuno firstly ported the concept of empathy to the field of linguistics.
