Abstract
This thesis discusses the stylistic features of sports English, analyses translation characters in English sports news, trying to give a complete description of the characteristics of vocabulary, tone and sentence. Also, it introduces the translation skills in the process of English sports news translation, showing the importance of accumulation during translator’s preparation work. With the development of media, news integrates with human daily life. The thesis presents some reference for news workers.

1 Introduction
As competitive sports with its unique charm and attraction makes people thirst for understanding global sports event, it requires news translation must be accuracy. Linguistic features of English sports news use lots of short words, nicknames, numerals. This thesis shows that English sports news is mainly used to describe the sports events and to provide relevant information and background of the subject. Short sentences and optional languages make English sports news style tend to be informal, and close to readers. In the language, English sports news sets written and spoken language features in one. Written language features use frequent professional terminology, vocabulary and sentence complexity and high density. Oral characteristics are embodied in the colloquial words, slang, simple conjunctions and everyday vocabulary through. Therefore, English sports news is written language which has oral features.
