2.1 News Discourse

News discourse is a common but important genre of discourse. It is not easy to give a definition of news, that’s why there are so many definitions of news nowadays. For example, W.Bennet defines news as information that is timely, relevant to the concerns of its audience, and presented in a form that is easy to grasp. And many scholars hold that the most significant feature of news is that substantive connotations are often implicit, that is why so many scholars across different disciplines pay attention to it, especially those of CDA.
