1 Introduction
In terms of the wide range of literature works we contact, Chinese American Literature belongs to a special part compared to the definitely native ones and foreign ones. Their authors have some peculiar and complex backgrounds and a lot of questions deserve our attention such as whether they directly contact to Chinese culture and traditions, what are their parents’ reasons for immigration and what kind of impact they faced in the foreign environment. All these factors have indispensable influence to their identity construction. Amy Tan as well as other second generation of Chinese American writers was affected by their parents’ values and experiences in a special historical period, which, no matter positive or negative, added a deep Chinese mark to their novels to some extent although they have never got in touch with China directly. However, their reorganization to culture and their own identities was changed by an unconscious influence of some western values as time goes by. Such changes were reflected in their books and experienced a long term inner struggle. So we can say that their settings and definitions to their identity were rooted in a specific background of time and geography and they are always changing with their living experience and contacts with others. Except for the theoretical values in the study of these literature works, I also find that their books may have some influence on the works of later generations. Comparing the similarities and differences and the writers in different period as well as analyze their background for writing help us discuss the functions of cross-culture literature in today’s world culture trend. 《喜福会》看第二代旅美华裔作家文化乡愁:http://www.751com.cn/yingyu/lunwen_74317.html
