Abstract Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen are remarkable and prominent female writers in the history of English literature whose representative works-Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice both are the world wide famous masterpieces, which both live during the late 18th and the early 19th century. In their works it reflects the survival status of British women in their period, that is, the females are in the deep oppression of the patriarchal society and there is no equality between men and women. Women could not be independent in economy. By analyzing the two heroines--Jane Eyre and Elizabeth Bennet from the perspective of their love view, the thesis is an attempt to find what they have in common and the main reasons why their love views are different. The body of the thesis consists of three chapters, besides Introduction and Conclusion. Chapter One is mainly about the brief introduction to the two women writers, Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen and their works--Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice. Chapter Two gives a comparative study of the two heroine’s love views in the sexual relationship, love and marriage view. Chapter Three analyzes the two main reasons--the family background and social background’s differences in Jane Eyre and Elizabeth’s female consciousness.
