摘 要在21世纪,人们越来越多地借助于英语这一全球性语言获取更多的信息。因此,英语阅读能力的培养对学生的全面发展来说有着重要作用。传统的阅读教学重在通过对句子、单词的分析来理解文章,忽视了图式理论的重要指导作用。为此,本文介绍了图式理论在初中英语阅读教学中的重要性,并分析了图式理论对阅读的影响。然而,图式理论在应用中也有一定的局限性。本文对此提出了一些解决办法。总之,图示理论是提高学生阅读能力的有效方法。40089

Abstract In the 21st century, people are prone to get more and more information through English-a global language. Hence, the cultivation of students’ reading ability takes a prior place in the comprehensive development of students. The traditional methods of teaching put emphasis on the analysis of sentences and words and ignore the important function of the schema theory . Thus, the paper introduces the importance of the Schema Theory and analyzes its impact on English reading teaching in junior middle school. However, the application of Schema Theory also has its limitations, so the paper also fingers out some methods to deal with these problems. All in all, Schema Theory has proved to be an effective approach to improve the student’s reading comprehension.

I. Introduction

    At present, English is universally recognized as lingua franca in political, economic, educational and many other fields. After the Second World War, there are about 80% of international communication was conducted in English. Today, the number of people who use English as their foreign language is much more than the number of people who use English as their mother tongue. In China, especially in large cities, English has become more and more significant. In some businesses, Chinese employees regards the English as their working language. This is the best evidence for the necessity and importance of English education in China.
English education includes many aspects, such as reading which deserves educators’ great attention. As we all know, reading is an indispensable cognitive activity in human society, a way for man to absorb knowledge and recognize the world they live in. Students can know more about the history, the economic development as well as the culture and customs of English-speaking countries through reading. Carrell believes that most English learners in the world will find the main reason why they learn English is that acquiring reading ability (28).
