    English film is a series of moving pictures recorded with English sound that tell stories, shown on television or at the movie theater. English film is a very effective medium for language teaching, especially in teaching listening and speaking.The past two decades has witnessed a shift of emphasis in foreign language teaching and learning. Teachers have been employing various methods to develop students’ abilities. It is vital for a language teacher to come up with ways to motivate students’ interest. The use of English films as the teaching materials would provide students with rich-content contexts. English films create a harmonious learning environment. Thus teaching listening and speaking through English films is worth trying.44653

    研究状况:

        In order to apply English films into listening and speaking teaching, more and more people did researches on activities based on the videos. Massi and Merino discussed the selection of films. They suggested that mirco-teaching activities should be organized in listening and speaking teaching. Some researches are done by English teachers. Zhang Qingbo, Zhao Gongyan and Zhou Rong point out that the effect of English teaching depend much on the learning environment and learning conditions. These researches show that teaching listening and speaking with videos is different from the traditional listening and speaking teaching in the following aspects: teaching environment, teaching method, teaching materials. Though there are many studies about videos, more studies should be involved in the further study. And my paper mainly discusses the application of English films to listening and speaking teaching.论文网

    This paper is composed of five chapters. In the first part, the paper gives a brief introduction. In the second part, the paper analyses the the current situation of listening and speaking teaching in middle school. In the third part, the paper explores advantages of teaching listening and speaking through English films. In the fourth part, the paper analyses how to put English films into listening and speaking teaching. At last, the paper makes a conclusion.

    研究方法和思路:

    In order to apply English films to listening and speaking teaching, this paper adopt documentary analysis. This paper will analyze the current situation of English listening and speaking teaching in middle school. The advantages of teaching listening and speaking with English films. Based on these analysis, the strategies of apply English films to listening and speaking teaching will be put forward.
