1999开始的、获得美国国家标准技术研究所支持的(NIST)ACE评测会议每年举办一次，旨在开发自动内容抽取技术，以支持对3种不同来源(普通文本、由自动语音识别ASR得到的文本、由光学字符识别OCR得到的文本)的语言文本的自动处理，研究的主要内容是自动抽取新闻语料中出现的实体(Entitie)、关系(Relation)、事件(Event)等内容，即对新闻语料中的实体、关系、事件进行识别与描述。64304
国内对汉语文本信息处理的研究近年来也受到足够的重视。20世纪90年代北京语言文化大学和清华大学出台了《现代汉语语料库文本分词规范》。教育部语言文字应用研究所出台了《信息处理用现代汉语词类标记规范》，《信息处理用现代汉语分词规范》(国家规范G1／T13715-92)上升到困家层面[3]。1991年首次对汉字识别进行测试。2003年3月，由ACL-Sighan主办，举行了第一届国际汉语分词评测(The first international Chinese word segmentation bakeoff)，同年10月由863中文与接口技术评测组组织对其进行测评。该会议从2005年开始每年主办一次，现在受到越来越多的重视。
