Abstract: With the further development of globalization, the links between countries have become increasingly strengthened. In the international arena, the national culture presents a trend of mutual integration. There is an old saying in China that hunger breeds discontentment which reflects the important role of food in the national culture, thus gaining more and more attention from peoples in different countries. With Geert Hofstede’s national value dimensions as theoretical guidance, in this paper, the differences between Chinese and American food culture will be discussed from several main aspects such as concept of diet, dietary content, cooking methods, dinning etiquette and dinning form. And the reasons for the differences between Chinese and American food culture will be further explored from three main aspects: political aspect, economic aspect and cultural aspect. Since the cultural reason plays an important role in forming the differences between Chinese and American food culture, it will be pided into three parts according to three of Geert Hofstede’s national value dimensions: collectivism and inpidualism, masculinity and femininity and power distance.28035

摘要:随着全球化的进一步发展,各国之间的联系日益加强。在国际舞台上,民族文化呈现相互融合的趋势,而在民族文化中,饮食作为日常生活最普遍的文化体现,越来越受到各国人民的关注。本文以中美饮食文化差异为切入点,以霍夫斯塔德的文化文度理论为理论基础,旨在探讨两国之间饮食文化在饮食观念、饮食内容、烹饪方法、餐桌礼仪和餐饮形式几个主要方面的不同,并在此基础上进行了对比。文章的最后从政治、经济、文化三个主要方面对中美饮食文化差异产生的原因进行了深层次的挖掘。
