Abstract A Study in Scarlet is a detective novel written by the famous English novelist Conan Doyle in 1887. He designed two new characters in this book, “consulting detective” Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later became famous characters in literature. 32182
It is well-known that American writer Allan Poe is honored as the founder of detective stories. The Murders in the Rue Morgue published in 1841 is generally recognized as the earliest detective story, affecting following writers deeply. It is not hard for us to see his imitation of Allan Poe in A Study in Scarlet. However, in the base of imitation, Conan Doyle has his own innovation and development.
As the first detective story created by Conan Doyle, A Study in Scarlet is full of text glamour. This thesis explores writing techniques in A Study in Scarlet. There are two focuses. One is sophisticated narrative, including unique narrative structure and different narrative perspectives. The other is borrowing and development of Allan Poe, including citing media reports of cases in the novels, relationship between detectives and policemen, and the narrator of story.
Detective fiction is the game of intelligent people, while readers participating in decryption processes through detective novels. At the same time, detective novels are works of human nature. When the answers turn out, readers can comprehend the most basic desire of human beings through it, appreciating the value of life.

摘要《血字的研究》是英国著名小说家柯南•道尔于1887年所创作的推理小说,在本书中他设计了新的人物形象,“咨询侦探”夏洛克•福尔摩斯和他的朋友以及记录者约翰•华生医生。这两个人物后来成为著名的文学形象。
众所周知,美国作家爱伦•坡被誉为侦探小说的鼻祖,他于1841 年发表的《莫格街谋杀案》被公认为最早的侦探小说,深深地影响了其后的作家。从《血字的研究》中我们不难看出柯南•道尔对爱伦•坡的模仿,但在模仿的基础上柯南•道尔也有自己的创新和发展。
《血字的研究》作为柯南•道尔创作的第一部侦探小说,具有十分丰富的文本魅力。本文将着力探究《血字的研究》中的写作技巧,重点有两个,一是复杂精巧的叙事艺术,包括独特的叙事结构和不断变化的叙述视角,二是对爱伦•坡的借鉴和发展,包括在小说中引用媒体对案件的报道、侦探与警察的关系以及故事的叙述者。
侦探小说是智者的游戏, 读者通过侦探小说参与解密的过程。同时,侦探小说又是人性的书写,在谜底揭晓的那一刹那, 读者又可以通过它了解人最基本的欲望,体会生命的价值。

Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a Scottish writer and physician, most noted for his fictional stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes, which are generally considered the cornerstone in the field of crime fiction. He was a prolific writer whose other works include fantasy and science fiction stories, plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction and historical novels.
