Abstract Directed by the traditional Teaching Method, almost all the English Teaching in Middle School pays much attention to knowledge, ignoring the students’ learning motivation, which leads to the low application ability of high school students. The Five Step Teaching Method aims to improve the students’ autonomous learning ability, which requires teachers to exchange their roles and strengthen the interaction between teachers and students. Meanwhile, it can provide an active and rich environment for classroom teaching. This paper expounds the characteristics and theoretical basis of the method, analyzes its application in middle school English teaching, and proves the necessity and validity of this method. In brief, this paper aims to provide a paradigm for middle school English teaching.

I. Introduction
Nowadays, with the development of globalization, more and more people realize the importance of English. English is not our mother language, but it is very important for us to learn it.The reasons are as follow. First of all, English is the only international standard language and China has developed rapidly in recent years. Now English are being the unique way of communication, English is of great significance. Secondly, due to the development of our society, there are more and more foreigners in China, especially in some big cities. They may be our workmates, classmates, neighbors, friends or even soul-mates and so on. Therefore, it is so necessary for our ordinary people to understand English. Otherwise, how can we get along well with them? How can we make our life much more colorful? It is known to us all that the main way we acquire English is in school, but nowadays our English teaching situation is not very good and practical. For example, students can not speak English fluently when they communicate with each other, and the atmosphere of English class is not good for students to learn English. What’s more, even some English teachers can not pronounce some English words in a correct way, and they don’t pay much attention to the choice of teaching method. There is no doubt that a good and scientific teaching method plays an important role in advert this sight. A good teaching method can not only attracts students interests to study, but also strives the teacher make a great change. Only in this way, can we learn English well, and make full use of English.
