摘 要语言是思文的反映，思文决定语言怎样传达意义。因此，思文模式是造成语言表达不同的重要因素。英国人的思文偏向分析，线性，客观。中国人偏向综合，螺旋式，主观。这一事实造成了语言表达在词汇，句法，和篇章上的不同。不同的语言使用不同的语言形式。 在试图在他们之间建立任何桥梁之前，一个人应该熟悉自己民族的文化并且要意识到源语言文化的特征。在不同的地理环境，生活方式，风俗习惯以及文化信仰的影响下，东西方的思文方式也有所不同。本文对《格列佛游记》原著与王文东版译著进行对比，通过实例，对英汉表达的不同特点进行分析。21712

Abstract Language is a reflection of thought pattern. Thought pattern determines how a language expresses meanings. Therefore, thought pattern difference is a critical factor which causes the difference of language expressions. The thought pattern of English is analytic, linear, and objective, while the thought pattern of Chinese is synthetic, spiral and subjective. This fact causes differences at lexical, syntactical and text structural levels in language expressions. Different languages, then, may use different linguistic forms. People should be familiar with their own culture and be aware of the source language culture before attempting to build any bridge between them. Under the influence of different geography environment, life styles, customs and different cultural values, people of the East and West are different from ways of different cultural values, people of the East and West are different from ways of thinking. This paper compares Gulliver’s Travels with Wang Weidong’s translation work . It will analyse different expression features in English and Chinese though the examples in Gulliver’s Travels.

I .Introduction
Language has its own features in different social groups. No one can deny that language is inseparable from culture, we all admit that it’s the different culture of nations that breed the various languages. Language by nature is the embodiment of human thoughts and thoughts in turn is the mental reflection of the beautiful world around us. The different ways of thinking in fact are the reflection of cultural difference. People who live in different areas for a long time have different cultural characteristics; therefore, their ways of thinking are different.
Meanwhile, language is also the carrier of the culture, and it reflects the perse aspects of the culture. The thinking patterns are one of the most important factors in culture. It is closely related to cultures and embodies the characteristics of cultural psychology. Besides, the modes of thinking also are closely related to language. Different modes of thinking are embodied in different languages. Cultural differences play important roles in translating and understanding.
