摘 要《了不起的盖茨比》是美国著名小说家菲茨杰拉德的名作,也是美国文学史上的经典之作。小说成功的地方之一就是作者塑造了女主角黛西这一角色。黛西性格复杂多变,引起国内外学者和评论家的广泛争论。本论文采用文本细读和分析的方法,拟从五个部分进行研究,第一部分引论,简要介绍作者和他的作品《了不起的盖茨比》、它的地位,以及此论文的目的和意义;第二部分文献回顾,主要分三个方面概括国内外学者和评论家对该书以及黛西的评论和文献观点,以及本论文的不同看法;第三、四部分是主要内容,通过描述黛西的话语和行为,来刻画她的形象,主要为婚前和婚后的性格以此做出对比;最后得出结论,黛西本性是单纯、真诚的,由于生活的打击与经历造成的痛苦,整个社会的大环境让她的性格发生了改变,也造成了她的悲剧。36681

Abstract The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, was written by the famous American writer, Francis Scott Fitzgerald. One of the big successes of this novel is that Francis successfully shaped the heroine, Daisy Fay (Daisy Buchanan) in the story who has complicated images and arouse heating discusses about her both at home and abroad. This thesis discusses the characterization of Daisy on several perspectives, and it is pided into five parts. Firstly, it introduces the Francis Scott Fitzgerald and his The Great Gatsby briefly and what standing it holds. It also introduces the aim and importance of the study. Secondly, three parts will be included in the literature review. It will conclude the main points and statements about The Great Gatsby and Daisy from the famous scholars and critics. In the third and fourth parts, the most important will be pointed out. It mainly describes the images of Daisy before and after her marriage through her saying and behavior thus there is a comparison. It can draw the conclusion that Daisy is an innocent and simple, honest and sincere, and a poor little girl before her marriage, but then some changes took place after her marriage make her become somehow indifferent and apathetic. In fact, she was suffering in her deep heart. All the miseries and strikes in her life made her change and lead to her tragedy.

I. Introduction
Francis Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) is an American novelist who was born in a business family in St Paul City, Minnesota Prefecture. In the middle of the 20th century, Fitzgerald has always been a popular person in the field of western literary criticism, who was called one of “The Best Three Writers” in the American modern literature history with William Faulkner and Ernest Miller Hemingway and has a profound influence on the development of American modern novel. He was also honored the spokesman of the Jazz Age and the poet laureate for his masterpiece can grasp the pulse of American city in the 1920s, and vividly describe the ideology and behavior of American in the Jazz Age.
The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, also has been widely considered to be “Fitzgerald’s perfect novel” (Wu Weiren 63), and an important classic in American literature. It is also honored the second best novel of The 100 Best English Language Novels of the 20th Century.
