1 Introduction
1.1 Research Background
There are four kinds of sentences in English-Chinese language: declarative sentences, interrogative sentences, exclamatory sentences and imperative sentences. Among them, imperative sentence is a kind of directive sentence which the speaker asks the listener to do something or not do something, or the speaker invites the listener to do something or not to do something with him/her. Imperative sentence is a kind of essential sentence pattern both in English and Chinese and its subject can be omitted in most cases. The most important feature of English imperative sentences is that their verbs do not change and use the the root form of verbs. And there will be no person and changes of tense. Therefore, imperative sentences do have their own characteristics that differ from other sentences. 中英祈使句句法语义对比研究:http://www.751com.cn/yingyu/lunwen_26570.html
