Since Emily Dickinson’s orthodox religion education since childhood, her teenage life was calm and drab. Dickinson didn’t received advanced education, only in Amherst, near a girls’ school that she read books a year (Kazan 97). She wrote many poems, living in seclusion solitude. She thought the world was so loud that she left it far away and retreated to use her world of the soul of the building.

1.2 General Introduction to Emily Dickinson’s Poems
Emily Dickinson is the one of the most outstanding female poet in the literary world in the 19th century; she has a big influence on the history of American literature. Death often appears in Emily Dickinson’s poetry. The concept of beauty, nature and cold creed, filled her life, which vividly are reflected in all of her poems (Sewall 15).
Emily Dickinson’s poetry is pided into three distinct periods. Each period of the works has common features: 
    1. The first period is before 1861, during this period Dickinson’s works are the traditional style, and the inflow of her feelings are natural.
2. The second period (1861 ~ 1865) is the most creative period of Emily Dickinson and her poetry during this period has more vitality and passion. 
3. In the third period of years after 1866, it is estimated that two-thirds poems of Emily Dickinson are created during this period.
Her writing style: the wide range of topics, first of all, Dickinson is quite familiar with the same period of the romantic poets, Such as the romantic master Whitman. In a way she herself is influenced by transcendentalism. So lots of Emily’s poems show her love for the good things in life; Her poems are fickle in style, form and language and her poetry is remarkable for its variety, subtlety and richness, and her limited private world has never confined the limitless power of her creativity and imagination. As for the poetry form, Dickinson doesn’t stick to the traditional poetry mode. Instead, she writes poems which her hearts feels and her emotion out-pours naturally.
