Abstract This paper is based on Ang Lee’s movie Pushing Hands which reflects the differences in cooking culture between China and America. What’s more, the paper reveals the differences of the Chinese and American cooking culture, and analyzes some important reasons for these differences. Its significance lies not only in contributing to a deep understanding of the differences between Chinese and American cultures, but also helping people to enhance the ability in different culture communication. Then they can take effective actions to avoid misunderstandings. What’s more, the paper shoes clearly that the development tendency of Chinese and America cooking culture is mutual collisions, mutual integration, learning from each other and to complementing each other.62483

1. Introduction 

The film Pushing Hands is the typical reflection of cultural differences between China and America directed by the famous Taiwan director Ang Lee. The main reaction of the movie is expressing the Sino-US Cultural Differences, thus the contrast methods are certainly indispensable which can express the idea of the movie thoroughly. In this circumstances, it gives the audience a sense of enormous contrast, thus it can potentially strengthen the theme, and then the theme can sear into people's hearts easily.文献综述

The differences of Chinese and America culture in the film has been described in detail, such as differences in ethics, mode of thinking, traditional culture, diet culture etc. One of the most intuitive and the most attractive is the Chinese and America food culture differences. There is no doubt that Chinese and America cooking culture has many differences. This difference has brought a lot of discomfort to these who live in America Chinese and live in China Americans, but in the meantime, it also opens a window to the Sino-US people to learn more about the different diet culture. Inside the window, China shows food’s color, aroma　and taste. Instead, America pays more attention to balance food’s composition and absorbing the nutrient .
