    Study on Mould Design with NX based on Knowledge Reuse Technology

    Abstract. Mould design is a complex process which mainly uses fixed design process or design approach. It has certain similarity or repeatability. In order to avoid duplication of effort and improve the efficiency of the mould design, present a mould design method based on NX knowledge reuse technology, establish the standard parts library, so as to realize the target of high-quality, short-cycle and low-cost in mould design. At last, the mobile phone shell mould design example is given to verify the feasibility and practicability of the mould design based on NX knowledge reuse technology. 

    Introduction 

    Mould is known as the mother of industrial products. Industrial products depend on mould to be manufactured in large scale and rapidly expansive. So mould design technology has become one of the important symbols to measure the product manufacturing level of a country [1]. With the development of mould technology, we need a large number of standard parts in the process of mould design. And a great variety and large number of standard parts lead to a lot of repeated work that reduces the efficiency of design [2-3]. According to statistics, the new product will receive more 30% of the market share if it is on the market a month earlier. Therefore, how to realize the development of new products of high-quality, low-cost and short-cycle is the key to win the competition of products [4]. Using knowledge reuse technology can solve the current problems effectively [5]. With the development of 3D modeling platform, various standard parts libraries based on 3D software emerge as the times require, which provide a platform for the realization of knowledge reuse technology. The library of standard parts can reduce massive repeated work, save design time, improve design efficiency and has a practical significance on the development of mould industry.

    Modern product design is based on knowledge, centers on obtaining knowledge. The design can be viewed as the materialization of knowledge; product is the carrier of knowledge essentially. The essence of modern social product competition is the competition of knowledge assets. However, many enterprises are faced with the danger of losing the knowledge assets due to lacking technical means and tools for effective accumulation and knowledge reuse. Therefore the concept of knowledge reuse was put forward. The history of knowledge reuse is almost as long as the history of design, but in a non-conscious form for most of time. It’s generally believed that knowledge reuse is to retrieve the knowledge in the knowledge base and repeat using the modified knowledge through feature matching [6]. The purpose of knowledge reuse is to put the collective wisdom of organizational knowledge chain condensed into an organization's competitiveness, it can make disordered information orderly in the enterprise, support knowledge sharing and improve work efficiency and innovation ability. The properties of product design and market competition environment determine the significance of design reuse.
