For the novel she won the National Book Award for Most Distinguished Novel of 1936 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1937.
Love philosophy has always been the focus point of many different subjects. Love is too complicated to define according to scholar Fher and Russell (1991), because love is complex phenomenon influenced by social factors, which is the combination of physical, psychological and subjective feelings. (c.f. 刘聪颖,邹泓:2014)According to this, some sociologists and psychologists do not directly explore the definition of the nature of love, but through the pision of the types of love to discuss the complex and multidimensional nature of love. They think the love type is personal interpretation of love or view of love, this attitude of love guide their behavior, and show their love (c.f. 刘聪颖,邹泓:2014)
Scarlett falls in love with Ashley when she is fourteen. Ashley is the dream and idol of her whole girlhood. After the Civil war, Scarlett returns to Tara. Everything has changed but the land. She tries to survive as a strong woman. At that time, Scarlett still cherishes her girlhood image of Ashley. In the hardest time, the image of Ashley is her source of courage and energy, and makes her go on to make her way through the troubles. Scarlett wants to be the wife of Ashley, which is considered to be her dream for her whole girlhood. (c.f. 缪辰,2012:39) By the end of the story, Scarlett’s marriage value reconstruction has finally been realized. Scarlett finds that she has loved Rhett all along, as an adult loves, not as a girl loves, and she can finally understand that the marriage based on true love can bring her real happiness, rather than the idealistic love and money-based marriage. (c.f. 缪辰,2012:38)
