    摘 要英语课外活动是指由学校或教师有目的、有计划地组织学生在英语课堂教学之后参与的多种有意义的活动,是课堂教学的延伸。本文运用定性方法、定量方法、阅读法以及文本分析法来分析英语课外活动在小学英语教学中的地位和作用,通过不同的课外活动对小学英语教学的作用分析可以看出其积极性是值得肯定的。本文希望通过对英语课外活动在小学英语教学中作用的分析,来提高教师和学生对英语课外活动的认识,从而掌握学习英语的新方法,提高英语教学质量。31194

    Abstract      English extracurricular activities refers to the various meaningful activities that the school or the teacher organizes with a goal and plan to allow students to participate in after the English classroom teaching. It is an extension of the classroom teaching. The qualitative approach, quantitative approach, literature reading method and the text analysis are adopted to analyze the status and role of English extracurricular activities in primary school English teaching. By the analysis of the effect of the various extracurricular activities on the primary English teaching, their positive influence is credited. The paper is aiming at enhancing the teachers and students’ recognition of the English extracurricular activities by the analyzing of the role of it and thus obtain new methods of English learning and improve the teaching quality consequently.

    I. Introduction
        Just like learning any other foreign languages, English learning needs a more authentic and effective language environment, in which the learners learn for using instead of learning for learning. However, the present situation in China is not very optimistic, especially in the field of primary school English teaching. English extracurricular activities, as effective methods of providing a real English environment, have not yet been taken seriously by many English teachers. Students still learn English in a deaf and dumb environment. Thus, its necessity of fully developing seems self-evident. It is quite clear that an effective method should be carried out to improve the efficiency of English extracurricular activities in primary schools.
