     Abstract Education is very important in people’s social life. People with good education will pass through the severe challenge in the future, which has become a global consensus. As Engels once said, family education is a form of education. After monogamy inpidual family came into being, it became a new theoretical system. In this paper, the author will compare the differences between two kinds of family education by comparative analysis method and will analyze main reasons for these differences. What’s more, this study would enable Chinese people to recognize the shortcomings of traditional Chinese family education and to have a scientific understanding of the concept of American family education, which is significant for the future development of Chinese family education.

    Ⅰ. Introduction

    Recently, more and more people pay attention to the family education because of the advent of the knowledge economy age. With the development of economic globalization, the competition among countries is becoming increasingly fierce. As a developed capitalist country, the United States has strong comprehensive national strength, and it is also famous for students’ development-oriented education concept. As we all know, family education plays an important role in students’ development. At the same time, the concept of traditional family education in China can’t catch up with the pace of development unless we introduce new educational ideas and change the social development which is not suited to the new educational ideas.

    Family education plays an important role in growth process of children. Because during the children’ growth process, environment affects children’s growth most. As an external factor, environment even can determine the direction of children’s growth to some extent. It’s more possible for a child to become a useful person when he is in a good educational environment. And he would perform better in comprehensive quality during his growth process. On the contrary, the child who lives in a poor education environment would tend to rave more shortcomings and his comprehensive quality remains to be improved.
