Abstract This thesis is based on the studies of Tu’s winning the Nobel Award from the view of framework theory. Examples are collected from People's Daily of China and the New York Times of America. Through analysis, the paper tries to interpret different roles of framework in Chinese and American media, with the aim to enhance the level of domestic coverage and strengthen external communication ability. It finds that different media have different tendentiousness, and the news value is the first layer that lead the differences between the news framework, behind which exists restricts of political values and cultural values.69653

摘要本文以中美两国对屠呦呦获奖的报道为个案进行研究，并分别选取两国具有代表性的报 刊《人民日报》和《纽约时报》作为研究对象,通过比较分析的方法从框架理论透视新 闻框架在中美新闻报道中的具体作用机制。通过以上分析本文试图在解读差异的同时为 我国媒介取长补短、提升报道水平,增强对外传播能力。本文发现不同的媒体有不同的 报道倾向，新闻框价值观则是影响新闻框架的第一层因素，其背后还隐藏着政治价值观 和文化价值观的影响。

1. Introduction
In October 2015, Tu Youyou -- a researcher at the Chinese academy of traditional Chinese medicine, has won the Nobel Prize, becoming the first Chinese scientist winning the Nobel Science Prizes and the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine. However, controversy about tu, has began at the lasker clinical medicine as early as the 2011. Besides, Tu's discovery of artemisinin has attracted lots of attention both from the country and the outside. Especially, in China and America, different media showed different views on it. In order to find out the reason, 10 reports selected from People’s Daily and New York Times have been analyzed through the framework theory and try to find out differences in news values, political values and the cultures.
