This paper is pided into five Chapters.
Chapter one is designed as a general introduction of the whole study. It presents the significance of this research including some background information and motivation, and the methodology and layout of the research.
Chapter two is a brief literature review. First, it gives an overview of previous studies on animal idioms. Some scholars’ representative opinions and their contributions are mentioned here. Second, it gives a definition of cultural connotation, idioms and translation, and the relationship between them.
Chapter three is the comparison of the animal words in Chinese and English idioms. At the beginning of this part, a representative animal---dragon is taken as an example. And then it analyzes the causes of the different cultural connotation.
Chapter four is about the translation of Chinese and English animal idioms. And some different ways are advised here.
Chapter five is the conclusion of this study.
