About the writing styles, product instruction has both common characters with other technical writings and its own qualities. Without it, it may be difficult for us to make better use of the product we have bought, especially those products imported from foreign countries, because different products from different cultures will possess their own specific features. For another, by supplying product instrution, foreign companies can not only tell us how to use their products effectively but also promote their new products and make their brand more popular. With the fierce and fiery competition among the mass companies at the international market, the one with a more popular brand will earn more advantages compared with those companies with a little popularity. So the later one will find it hard to sell their products. In the long term, more profits will be earned by those companies with a more well-known brand, which is what they want most. As far as I am concerned, if we produce a new product but fail to make an appropriate operating manual for it, the product may turn out to be a failure, no matter how good the product is. The reason is that, without an accurate product instruction containing all the information about the product we consumers plan to buy, most consumers will not get enough information about the goods and may refuse to buy it. To make it worse, side effects will show up, if we are not offered a good and explicit operating manual when buying a product from store. That is to say, without this kind of operating manuals, we will find it difficult to make better use of the product we have bought. In the long term, even a better product will not sell well, compared with those inferior product with a better operating manual.
