According to these findings and researches, this thesis will be pided into three chapters in addition to Introduction and Conclusion. Chapter One will cover Hemingway’s theme of death discussing from his terrifying life experiences to his excellent works. A review of his life experiences explains his fascination to death theme showed in most of his works. Thus, these two parts are inextricably. In Chapter Two, efforts will be made on the development of Hemingway’s theme of death. As a matter of fact, there are four stages in this development which can be revealed in his typical works by analyzing the symbolic images used in each book accordingly. First stage is his fear of death which mainly comes from his experience when he was a child. When it comes to second stage, the stage of “feebleness before death”, information that man can do nothing about death when he faced death in World War I will be exploded. Third stage refers to his recognition of death. At the fourth stage, efforts will be devoted to transcendence of death which tells that death is unavoidable though, man can live forever in spirit. In Chapter Three, the significance towards death will be explored.
