2.1 Benevolence of Aslan
Aslan is the main character of all the seven books, playing a key role in the whole Narnia history. Aslan is the symbol of wisdom, kindness, glory, justice and power. He represents Jesus Christ. Aslan is described as a talking lion, the King of all the beasts, sons of the Emperor-Over-the-Sea, and the king of Narnia. “He is the one who has speech and dominion over Narnia. Lewis gives him an aura of brightness and all the authority he can use.” (Wang Hui, 2010:20) He has magical authority. He leads and helps children and other creatures as well to fight against evil and protect the Narnia Kingdom.来.自/751论|文-网www.751com.cn/
In The Magician’s Nephew, he creates the Narnia Kingdom. In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, he defeats the evil White Witch. In Prince Caspian, it is children’s belief in Aslan that determines Narnia Kingdom’s being back. In The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Aslan saves Ustace. In The Last Battle, Aslan makes a conclusion of stories in Narnia and lead his friends to a new world. Aslan appears in each of the seven books. It is a character throughout the whole chronicles, from Narnia’s creation to eventual destruction. Without him, the Narnia story will lose its kernel.
