    With the development of society, it’s difficult to finish different things by a single person. When we face problems, the key to solve them is a strong team. At present, society needs more team spirits. What’s more, learning to get along with each other in a team is a basic quality for a person. In classroom group activities, students can help and learn from each other and obtain a sense of group glory and success, and thus this method can develop their team spirit. Currently, classroom group work has been more and more diffusely applied in the student-centered education practice as a breakthrough and supplement to the traditional teaching concept.
    Nevertheless, the study and application of group work in English teaching is still at initial stage in middle school. In China, the number of students is extremely large, often with 50-70 students in one class. So it is very difficult for a English teacher to give everyone a chance to express themselves in a 45 minute class. As far as the improvement of English instruction is concerned, especially in speaking English, guiding group work learning into English teaching of middle school is the imperative need of English instruction reform at present. Four or six students in a group can do the speaking activity according to the topic the teacher gives. They can practice speaking English, or express their own viewpoints, or have a heated discussion about some interesting topics. These activities can not only increase their quantity of practicing of speaking, but can also cultivate students’ cooperation ability which is one of the targets of our new curriculum standard.
    In this paper, I will make more systematic and deep-going research on classroom group mode in the middle school English instruction from different aspects.
    II. The Definition of Classroom Group Mode
        Classroom group work is a form of collaborative learning and learners help each other to achieve their common goals based on groups(Littlewood27). Group work is a new teaching methods, and it can effectively sustain the students’ language communication and let them use language in a wider condition and interpersonal area.
    2.1 The Contents of the Classroom Group Mode
    1. Preparation of Class
    Before class, the teacher will arrange relevant preview task. Students will consult new words, preview text and grammar points, make up a dialogue by the method of group work. Meanwhile, they also find wondering points and ask the teacher for help in class or get answer by other groups. Preparation of class require students’ full preparation of learning new words and text . In order to broaden our culture perspective, students need expand related knowledge. Students’ positivity and initiative are improved, and they will think positively in class. The members of groups can learn from others’ strong points to offset their weakness and cultivate students’ cooperative awareness.
    2.Show in Class
    After each group leaves sufficient time for preview, it’s time to show their achievement of preparation of class. In this link, teacher will lead students to do it by a process of team competition. That is to say, first step, team will show their contents of preview, and next step, students will choose the best team by comparison. Then each team will appoint a student as spokesman to tell everyone knowledge points which are found by themselves and explain language points. After that, other teams can complement and put right. At this time, teacher will comment on each team’s advantages and disadvantages, in order to never make the same mistake again in the future. In this way, students can better remember the language points, because this is the fruits of labour of themselves.
    During the link of perform dialogues, students take an active part in it, and each team has its own style. Pleasant and harmonious classroom climate can improve students’ learning efficiency by enhancing their interest and stimulating their participation awareness and potential of learning. Students and teacher will choose the most impressive group from this aspects of standard pronunciation, sentient dialogue, natural expression and decent performance. In order to win the honor, each student is unwilling to lag behind. In a general way, some students who are good at speaking English is happy to act a part that is very complicated. Other who are not good at speaking English are unwilling to admit themselves outdone, so they will try their best to emboss their own characters. Everyone’s ability of language expression can get the fullest training by classroom group activities. Teacher will praises the better team that have good show and points out its advantages. Other team can use the experience from this better team.With regard to these teams which have lacking show, teacher will analysis the problem and help correct shortcomings, so that they will have better performance in next class show.
