    摘 要作为一门全球性的语言,英语越来越受到人们的重视。在中国,学生从小学就开始学习英语。但是,学习一门外语对于小学生来说十分困难。他们需要一些有趣的事物来吸引他们的注意力,从而帮助他们理解复杂的语法知识和单词。本文采用文献分析、案例分析等方法来探索教具在小学英语教学中的作用。结果显示:教具的使用对提高小学英语教学效率,增强小学生学习英语的兴趣起着不可替代的作用。希望本文能对小学英语教学方法的改进起到积极的作用。33301

    Abstract As a global language, English is more and more important. In China, students begin to learn English from primary school. However, it is very difficult for primary school students to learn a foreign language. They need something interesting to attract their attention and help them understand the abstract grammar and difficult words. This paper explores the functions of the teaching aids in the primary school English teaching through document analysis, case study and so on. Hopefully, this paper can improve the teaching methods in the primary school English teaching.

    I. Introduction
    As we all know, English is a very difficult but very important subject. Nowadays, English has already become the world’s most widely used language. It is increasingly included in primary curricula. Learning English is not only a kind of fashion but also a necessary skill. In China, the primary school students had already started to learn English. It is well known that education in China has been influenced by the deep-rooted examination-oriented system for a very long time. In order to attract students’ attention, teachers have made great efforts to make knowledge more lively and interesting.
    At the same time, people all know that students need something interesting to attract their attention. They are active and cannot concentrate their attention. In English class, teachers explain every language point in detail, while students just listen and take notes all the time. Students’ interest in English is decreasing year after year. Teachers study how to make the English class interesting. As the time and technology changed, teachers need to change their teaching methods. And a variety of teaching aids have been produced.
    Teaching aids aim to help teachers to achieve the teaching goal. Teachers should make use of all favorable resources for the development of their education. To use teaching aids is a good way to improve the teaching efficiency. Teachers have a lot of resources that can be used as teaching aids. However, how can they use the teaching aids correctly? Can all of the teaching aids play a positive role in English teaching? What are the teaching aids’ functions? In the following paper, it will give the answers to these questions.
