    摘 要词汇是语言三大要素之一,它在中学英语教学过程中发挥着重要的作用。当前中学英语词汇教学活动仍存在许多缺陷。于初中生而言,有效词汇教学策略的应用将有效促进其学习效率,提高其学习成绩,这一点毋庸置疑。本文运用了定性法和分析法进行研究,例如观察法和例证法,对初中英语词汇教学活动进行观察,并列举了大量具体例子,最终提出了一些有效的词汇教学策略。文章旨在帮助初中英语教师提高教学效果,并帮助学生提升学习效率。36968

    Abstract   Vocabulary is one of the three elements of a language. It plays an important role in the junior middle school English teaching. There are many defects in current English vocabulary teaching in junior middle schools. For junior students, the application of efficient vocabulary teaching strategies will surely promote their learning efficiencies and improve their learning results. Both qualitative approach and illustration are employed in the research,such as observational method and exemplification, which investigated English vocabulary teaching activities in junior middle schools and demonstrated a great deal of concrete examples, finally proposed some efficient lexical teaching methods. It aims at helping junior middle school English teachers improve their teaching outcomes and raising students learning efficiencies.

    I.Introduction

    As known to all, vocabulary is one of the three elements of a language. For a second language learner, vocabulary is the base of learning. In terms of the status of vocabulary in foreign language teaching, there were a great number of linguists who have emphasized the importance of vocabulary, such as Wilkins puts that “Without grammar very little can be conveyed; without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed”(111). It is exactly because vocabulary has a basic position in language teaching process and junior students are at the elementary position in English learning process, hence this paper are designed to focus on the study of English vocabulary teaching in junior high schools.
     “Vocabulary” is defined in the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English as the following aspects: (1) All the words that someone knows or uses; (2) All the words in a particular language. (3) The words that are typically used when talking about a particular subject. (4) The range of possible features, effects, actions etc, especially in a type of music or art. (5)(the word) failure/ guilt/compromise etc, is not in sb’s vocabulary used to say that someone never thinks of accepting failure etc. (6) A list of words with explanations of their meanings, especially in a book for learning a foreign language(2574). This paper will mainly discuss the second aspect.
