Abstract In order to adapt to the development of the society and lack of high-quality talent, the national department of education has raised attention of the society on the development of education reform again. In the thesis, the author mainly uses the methods of analysis, documentation and survey research to analyze the advantages and disadvantage of NMET reform, discusses the influence of NMET reform on the middle school English teaching, and then studies new middle school English teaching modes. The NMET influences the middle school English teaching reform seriously, so our country should attach great importance to ability of English practical application, and meet the requirement of education for all-around development. Hopefully this thesis will be beneficial to study new middle school English teaching modes.

The Influence of NMET Reform on Middle School English
Teaching
I. Introduction
As a world language, English is popular among an increasing number of countries. Various countries and regions have perse cultural background, including classroom culture, students’ culture and teachers’ culture. These factors have a profound impact on English teaching mode. With the popularization of English in the world, the demand for English in China is becoming higher and higher. However, almost all of English teaching theories in China are derived from western countries; China has not created a perfect set of English teaching theory with Chinese characteristics so far.
Under the background of the traditional National Matriculation English Test, teachers seldom emphasized verbal English in the English classroom activities, nor did they arouse of the students enthusiasm previously. They only considered English as a part of the examination content. To make matters worse, the students accepted English grammar and sentence patterns passively, resulting in learning English as a heavy burden (Wang 61).
With the reform of NMET, we have gradually realized that there are many problems existing in our teaching mode, such as theoretical basis, imperfect curriculum reform project, absence of traditional culture, single research angle, and so on. So it is time to draw lessons from various foreign English teaching theories and explore a suitable mode of English teaching, taking the practical teaching environment of China into account. For the sake of adapting to the reform better, we should make a great breakthrough in English teaching mode and encourage the students actively into the lesson (Liu 134).
