    摘要本论文选择四本中外经贸教材,通过分析它们对图表与文本的排版与处理方法,分析中外经贸教材编撰者对“读者之上”原则的理解与应用,以及这个原则在教材排版中的作用。读者至上原则包括易懂性和可记忆性,易懂性是指教材对经济概念的阐述易于学生理解;可记忆性是指作者在教材编纂过程中,如何使得经济概念更易于记忆。本文根据符号学与多模态话语对于图像意义的相关观点,通过对比,归纳,总结的方法,系统地比较了中外经贸教材中图表的阐述方式,有以下两个发现:
    四本教材图表编写过程中存在着很大的差别,包括图表阐述方式和语言风格上的不同。在图表阐述方式上,国外教材更倾向于利用一些符号来进行动态的展示,而国内教材则倾向于更具逻辑性的静态说理进行展示;在语言风格上,国外教材更加地幽默风趣,而国内教材则更强调学术和严谨。总的来说,在读者至上原则的运用上,外国教材更加成熟,国内经贸教材的编纂者应借鉴外国教材的图表阐述方式和语言风格。关键词  读者至上原则  教材编纂  图表7075

         Title    The principle of "reader-friendliness" in
     textbook compiling: a cross-cultural comparison of figures and diagrams in two economics textbooks
                          Abstract
    To analyze the principle of "reader-friendliness" and its functions in textbook compiling, this paper makes a cross-cultural comparison of figure compiling based on four economics textbooks. The principle of "reader-friendliness" includes two aspects ,understandability and memorability .Understandability means the illustration of a concept should be easy to understand .Memorability means the concept should be illustrated in a way easy to memorize in the process of textbook compiling.Based on Semiotics and multimodal discourse ,the paper comes to two findings through comparison and conclusion :
    There exist many differences in the process of textbook compiling, including the method of illustrating figures and language style.In the former part, the foreign authors tend to illustrate a figure in a dynamic way, while the domestic authors tend to explain it with logical words in a statical way. In the latter part, foreign economics textbooks tend to use humorous words, while the language style of domestic textbooks is more academic. In a word, foreign textbooks apply "reader-friendliness" principle better .Domestic economics textbook compilers should learn the method of figure illustration and language style from the foreign compilers.
