    Collision and Compatibility between Chinese and American Family Education: A Study of The Joy Luck Club Abstract  In The Joy Luck Club, Amy Tan describes the conflicts between the Chinese mothers and their Americanized daughters to show us different family education, family lifestyle, etc. At last, the two different family educations merge together. Nowadays, high-speed social development needs high qualified talents and good family education is the key point to the high qualified talents. With the rapid development of globalization, more contacts require an effective way of communication to narrow the gap between different two family educations, different two cultures. In addition, Chinese families have become increasingly concerned about the all-round development of their children, and therefore place more emphases on how they as families educate their children. This thesis consists of three parts. The first one is the Introduction, which mainly introduces the background of the novel and literature review. Then the second part is the body, which includes three chapters: the conflicts between mothers and daughters, the compatibility and the hidden causes. The third part is the conclusion. Consequently, in this thesis, by analyzing what are the conflicts and why they have conflicts, through systematic study of The Joy Luck Club, I would like to dissect the main causes of cultural conflicts and find proper ways in blending family educations.47202

    中美家庭教育中的异同: 《喜福会》的研究摘  要在小说《喜福会》中,作者谭恩美在描写华裔母亲和美籍女儿矛盾时,表达了不同的家庭教育,生活方式等等。而在小说的最后,母女的矛盾化解了。现如今,高速的社会发展需要高质量的人才, 而好的家庭教育正是培养高质量人才的核心。全球化环境下,更多的机遇也就意着更多的挑战,它需要国家民族之间有效的沟通与协调来缩小两国之间的文化差异,家庭教育差异。而且,中国家庭近来越来越关注孩子的全面发展,所以他们在孩子的教育问题上也越来越用心。论文共分为三部分。第一部分为引言,主要介绍小说的相关背景和文献综述。第二部分包括三章:母女之间的矛盾、理解和这矛盾背后的缘由。第三部分是结论。所以,在这篇论文中,通过研究矛盾是什么?为什么会有矛盾?对《喜福会》进行系统化的分析研究,最终揪出文化冲突中的主要原因并就家庭教育的问题找到合适的解决方法。

    Introduction
    In a lifetime, family is the first school, in which parents are the first teachers for children. Consequently, family education is the main concern for parents, and also a social problem. Family education has caught people’s attention for a long time. In Emile, or Education, written by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, it is pointed out that “People’s education started when he was born. Before being able to talk and listen to others, he has been educated.” (Rousseau 52) In addition, Sukhomlinskii once said that “Family education is the most complete education. Family and family relationships between children and parents are the first school in which children’s intellectual, moral, physical and aesthetic ability can be developed. ” (Sukhomlinskii 43) Even Deng Xiaoping once said “the modernization of the nation is based on the talent, talent based on education, education based on family.” Today, it is so important that almost all countries have paid close attention to the development of education and continuously promoted personnel training as well as technological innovation. In addition, family education is the core, playing a crucial role in the cultivation of talents. There are many types of family education in the world and each shows distinctive features and is closely responsive to its culture. American family education is the most famous one among them. Chinese family education goes back to ancient times. There are great differences in family education between China and America including the concept, values, methods, lifestyle, etc.
