Abstract Since the advent of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, it has a huge boost on equality and progress of human society development. The thesis discusses Uncle Tom’s Cabin from the analysis of the fate of Tom and the causes of Tom’s tragedy, we can know the key to solve the human race.Uncle Tom’s Cabin regarded Uncle Tom’s tragedy as a microcosm, showing the exploitation and oppression of African Americans slaves in the society of the United States. The novel regarded Uncle Tom’s tragedy as the main line, and also made millions of readers feel the power of tragedy, which gave people deep touched and profound thought. Therefore, the thesis introduces Uncle Tom’s cabin briefly and summarizes the previous research by other scholars.The thesis also discusses the evolution and development of tragedy to a certain analysis and inquiry on the basis of related research. And then this thesis focuses on Tom’s tragic fate in Uncle Tom’s Cabin from Uncle Tom’s personality, Uncle Tom’s religious beliefs, social environment and the racial oppression to analyze the causes of Tom’s tragedy. Tom’s tragedy is the result of his personality and the external environment. 50864

摘 要 《汤姆叔叔的小屋》自问世以来，对人类社会平等进步的发展产生了巨大的推动意义。通过对《汤姆叔叔的小屋》中汤姆命运的研究以及造成汤姆悲剧的原因进行分析，我们可以了解导致人类种族问题的关键。 《汤姆叔叔的小屋》以汤姆叔叔的悲剧为缩影，展现了奴隶制下美国社会对黑人奴隶的剥削和压迫。小说以汤姆叔叔的悲剧为主线，也让千万读者感受到了悲剧的力量，给人们深深的触动和深刻的思考。 因此，本文在对《汤姆叔叔的小屋》进行简介和对前人学者相关研究的基础上，对悲剧的演变和发展进行一定的分析和探究。然后，本文着重对《汤姆叔叔的小屋》中汤姆的悲剧命运进行分析，从汤姆叔叔的性格、汤姆叔叔的宗教信仰、社会环境和种族压迫四个角度对导致汤姆悲剧的原因进行分析。汤姆的悲剧是自身性格和外界环境共同导致的。

1. Introduction Uncle Tom’s Cabin was described the American society in19th by Harriet Beecher Stowe.The book was published in 1952,it immediately caused a strong reaction.It had a profound effect on awaking people against with the slavery . 1.1 the Brief Introduction of Uncle Tom’s Cabin This novel about African Americans and the American slavery has a huge influence ,it was regarded as one of the most important cause that led to American Civil War .Uncle Tom’s Cabin has the important political influence. The published of Uncle Tom’s Cabin was regarded as one of the fuses of the Civil War. It also played an important role in the winning of Lincoln Party representing justice (Yao Jing, 2009). The Novel depicted the Christianity accepting by slaves, submissive Uncle Tom and the long-suffering slaves. At the same time, the novel created George Harris and Eliza’s typical images with a spirit of the rebel slave and they were unwilling to let slave owners decided their life and death (Ke wenliang, 2013). Uncle Tom’s Cabin profoundly accused the evil of slavery. As the first widely circulated political novel in the United States, it not only has great influence on the development of American literature, also influences the development of the protest literature widely（Li Ying, 2011.) His spirits had become a powerful weapon which helped people aspire freedom and against with racial discrimination. Therefore, Uncle Tom’s Cabin has a profound meaning for the development of society and human beings.
