    Abstract Asking questions in class is an important technique of classroom teaching. It is also the significant step of information and emotion communication between teachers and students. Suitable questions can stimulate students’ learning interest, inspire students’ thinking and develop students’ ability of expressing. Therefore, the effect of teaching depends largely on the strategies of classroom questioning. Six teachers and two hundred and forty students from Hua Luogeng Experimental School (Jintan city) are randomly selected as the research subjects. Some methods are used to conduct the research about classroom questioning. The results show that teachers should try to use appropriate questioning strategy to improve the teaching effect.60780

    摘要课堂提问,是课堂教学的重要技巧,是师生之间进行信息和情感交流的重要环节。恰当的问题可以激发学习兴趣、启迪学生思维、培养学生表达能力。因此,课堂教学的效果在很大程度上取决于课堂提问的策略。本文以金坛市华罗庚实验学校的六位老师和二百四十位学生为实验对象,采用一些方法对其进行课堂提问方面的调查。结果表明,老师应当通过一些有效的提问策略来提高教学效果。

    1. Introduction 

    Classroom questioning is an important technique in English classroom teaching, which is applied in every step of classroom teaching process. It also functions as the linkage in teacher-student communication. According to investigation statistics, the ratio of classroom questioning in English class interaction activities is between 20% and 40%(王笃勤 22). Therefore, classroom questioning plays an important role in English classroom teaching. However, quite a lot of teachers are not good at classroom questioning, which may result in poor teaching effect. To avoid that, teachers are supposed to consider the strategies of classroom questioning in classroom teaching.

    According to New National English Curriculum for Chinese Primary Schools and Junior/Senior Middle Schools, there are five general objectives, among which attitudes to learning is especially important. This general objective can’t be achieved only by teachers’ one-sided teaching. In the process of asking and answering, there are collision of ideas and cognitive conflict, in which students gradually build their right worldview, philosophy, values and constantly develop the ability of value selection and value judgment at the same time. Thus, it is very significant for achieving the objective of attitudes to learning to investigate and analyze current situation of classroom questioning.
