2.2.2 Freedom
Rich in material and content, prose has accordingly a variety of cores and formation in structure. It may focus either on characters as the “The Sight of Father’s Back” by Zhu Ziqing or on scenes as “The Autumn in Peiping” by Yu Dafu. Likewise, the structural formation may also differ from one to the other. The prose organizes its structure now through the order of time, now through the transfer of space. Otherwise, it may also refer to the ideological recognition or the emotional changes of the author. Besides, the expression techniques of prose, ranging from narration, exposition, discussion, lyric to description, are all of freedom and flexibility. Other tactics like hint, symbol, metaphor and association are also used regularly in prose composition.
