Abstract Eco-translatology is a newly developed translation theory firstly proposed by famous professor Hu Gengshen, which regards the principle of Darwin’s biological evolution as its theoretical foundation, such as “natural selection” and “survival of the fittest”and so on. The principle of “three dimensions” is one of the most important standards of translation and evaluation derived from the theory of eco-translatology. So far, it has been applied in the translation of film subtitling, public signs, novels and so on. However, the theory has rarely been adopted in prose translation study. This thesis compares and analyzes a number of examples in the two English versions of He Tang Yue Se, written by the famous Chinese writer Zhu Ziqing. Through respective analysis of Moonlight Over the Lotus Pond by Zhu Chunshen and the Yangs, it is found that in the process of translating, the two versions have their own features and that both the translators adapt to the translational eco-environment from the dimensions of language, culture, and communication so as to produce proper versions. The thesis also proves that Eco-translatology plays a guiding role in the process of translation and translation study. 61267

1. Introduction
Translation plays a vital part in social development of human beings. In recent decades, translation studies has experienced linguistic turn, cultural turn, and now headed to the eco-translatology. Prose is the essence of Chinese literature. When translating it, the translators must have a profound literary accomplishment, and fully understand words and sentences with Chinese characteristics. He Tang Yue Se, an important essay written by Zhu Ziqing, is very simple, vivid and poetical, praising the beauty of the lotus pond in Tsinghua Park. So far, there are quite a number of academic articles on the translation of He Tang Yue Se from perse perspectives; few scholars, however, have studied its translation from the eco-translatology perspective. This thesis intends to reach into the realization of eco-translatology in the translation of the essay He Tang Yue Se, by comparatively studying the two English versions from the linguistic dimension, cultural dimension and communicative dimension. Through such analysis, the thesis tries to find where they made transformation and how the two translators made adaptation and selection in their translational eco-environment.源:自'751.·论,文;网·www.751com.cn/
