    摘要该论文的写作拟借助对中英跨文化交际中恭维语使用情况的对比分析,研究英汉恭维语的恭维对象、恭维形式、恭维内容、恭维的回应方式等方面的差异,并从中英跨文化交际主体的不同文化背景入手,选用中英跨文化日常交际的具有广泛性和代表性的实例和语料,从语法结构,句法句式,用词、回应等方面进行对比,应用礼貌原则、合作原则、面子理论等,深入分析造成恭维语语用差异以及语用失误的文化根源,并提出相应的纠正和改进措施。67144

    Title Pragmatic Difference and Failure Of Compliment In Chinese-English Intercultural Communication             

    Abstract

    This paper makes a comparison between the use of Chinese compliment and English compliment, including the aspect of compliment object, compliment form,compliment content and compliment response. Rich cases and materials are chosen in terms of different cultural backgrounds of people in the Chinese-English communication, which are very representative widely covered. Politeness principle,cooperation principle as well as face theory is used to analyze the differences. With these efforts, it is easy for us to find the cultural roots of pragmatic difference and failure of compliment in Chinese-English intercultural communication and some advices can be raised accordingly.

    1 Introduction

    With China’s reform and opening-up and the rapid development of globalization, the Chinese and English intercultural communication becomes much wider and more frequent. In such a communicational progress, the pragmatic issues of compliments have been playing an important role in several centuries. Among these issues, it is the pragmatic difference and pragmatic failure that brings people a lot of troubles, which even cause a much worse consequence in some occasions. This paper wants to help people understand the pragmatic difference correctly by way of analyzing the cultural roots of them from some typical cases, and thus, people can avoid pragmatic failure in Chinese-English intercultural communication effectively.
