摘要在多模态研究如火如荼的现状下,相对于其他语类文本,警示语的研究则多集中在单模态层面,这与其作为社会管理用语的重要地位不符。因此本文以一个关于吸烟危害的动画短片为样本,分析视频环境下警告的隐喻表达,探究视频制作是如何将多模态警告嵌入到颜色、服饰、具体相关情节以及音乐各种元素之中,从而更有效地传达其对众多吸烟者的劝告与警示。具体来说,本文结合系统功能语言学视角下多模态隐喻理论的相关内容,深度分析多模态警示语的视觉表达和隐喻含义,并在此基础上归纳多模态警示语的突出隐喻特点,分析隐喻的语法手段与整体语义,以期将其运用到多模态警示语视频的制作中。研究发现:第一,多模态隐喻通过多种模态如颜色、音乐等的共同作用,表达的意义更为丰富,比抽象的语言符号更能感染接受者;第二,多模态警示语利用颜色、服装等元素深度阐释警告语中的潜在危险,明晰后果,从而对受众产生冲击力,把深奥具有说教意味的警告变得浅显而可接受。基于研究结果,警告视频设计者在创作的过程中,应注重多种模态元素的有机结合,围绕警告的语义内涵进行制作,从而给观众留下更深的印象。68223

Title The Metaphorical Expressions of Multimodal Warnings- A Study based on a video clip of smoking hazards
Abstract
In the boom of multimodal research, warnings, compared to other types of text, mainly focus on a monomodal level, which is disproportionate to its important role—as a tool for social management. Therefore, based on a short video clip about the harm of smoking, this paper analyzes metaphorical warnings in visual context and explores how the video makers convey warnings in relevant elements including colors, clothes, the key plots and music to the target audience. Specifically, this paper, in light of the systemic functional perspective to multimodal metaphor, analyzes the visual expression and the metaphorical meanings of warnings in smoking ads in detail so as to figure out the prominent characteristics of multimodal warnings and applied it to relevant video production. The research findings are those: firstly, the multimodal metaphor research highlights the combination of modes which can better convey the warning messages thus, these modes can impress the recipients much more effectively than abstract linguistic symbols; secondly, the multimodal researches make full use of modes like colors, clothes and other elements to express messages about the potential danger in warnings, making the offensive warnings impressive, simple and acceptable. The implication of this paper is: warning video designers should pay more attention to the combination of various elements in their creating process to leave a deeper impression on the audience.
