Under the guidance of Krashen’s second language acquisition theory, the paper aims to: make teachers aware of the significance of game teaching; find out the problems of game teaching existing in English teaching for children; correspondingly explore how primary school English teachers can properly apply games to their practice of English teaching to stimulate the interest of students and active the classroom atmosphere and make students learn English more cheerfully and effectively. Hopefully it can provide references for those children English teachers.
The paper is to explore the problems in game teaching practice for English teachers by conducting thorough research on the theory of Stephen Krashen; studying current situations and drawing conclusions by the method of document retrieval. And by the way of class observation and taking a questionnaire survey and having interviews, it finds out the problems during the process of game teaching and finally gives reference how to settle with these problems. Specific methods are as follows: Literature retrieval method: finding out the theoretic basis of teaching games by retrieving the related documents; Class observation: observing the real classes in English training classes for kids to find the problems existing in the game teaching process; Questionnaire: giving away questionnaires to students to have a general knowledge about the effects of teaching games to learn the current situation of game teaching; Interviewing: making interview with experienced teachers and new teachers to know what difficulties they have met during the process of conducting teaching games; Case study: analyzing a successful game teaching case to propose practical strategies of game teaching.
