    Translation of children’s literature extends this idea. It helps children to understand a new culture, broaden their horizons and get access to different values. But today’s translation of children’s literature faces the imbalance of its development in practice and theory. On one hand, numerous foreign classics are translated and introduced to Chinese children. On the other hand, specific research on the translation of children’s literature is somewhat scarce. Therefore, appropriate theories are needed to guide the translation. Skopos Theory, focusing on the function of translated texts,  proves to be effective in this field. Through the analysis from the perspective of Skopos Theory, the present author hopes that translators can benefit from it to rethink their purposes and methods in the translating process. 

    All in all, this paper defines a direction for the translation of children’s literature, with the hope to draw attention to and increase the quality of translated texts of children’s literature. In this case, translators are expected to produce more works suitable for children, taking into consideration of the functions and features of children’s literature and its translation.

    1.3 Structure of the Research

    This paper includes five chapters — Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results and Discussion and Conclusion.

    The Introduction represents the purpose, significance and structure of the research.

    Chapter Two is Literature Review, which introduces children’s literature concerning its definition, characteristics and current situation in China, and translation of children’s literature concerning its development in both the West and China.

    Chapter Three Methodology describes the methodology of the research including the subjects, data collection, and data analysis.
